Faucet & Shower Head Packaging: A Buyer's Spec Guide
Short answer: Bathroom and plumbing products are heavy for their size, have polished surfaces that scratch easily, and often ship with loose parts like cartridges, hoses and mounting kits. A good box for them starts with the right board, holds every part still with an insert, protects the finish, and still looks like a premium product on the shelf or in an online listing photo.

We are in Xiaolan, Zhongshan, in the middle of one of China's biggest hardware and bathroom-fittings manufacturing areas. Many of the boxes we print go to faucet, shower and fittings factories nearby, so this guide is based on problems we see every week. For ready-made options, see our bathroom and plumbing packaging page.
Why bathroom products are hard to pack
Weight in a small footprint. A solid brass faucet can weigh far more than its box size suggests. Thin board bulges or crushes at the corners.
Finish damage. Chrome, brushed nickel and matte black finishes show every scuff. Movement inside the box causes most complaints.
Many components. Aerators, cartridges, hoses, escutcheons and screws all need a fixed place, or customers open a box with parts missing or scattered.
Two sales channels. The same box often has to work on a retail shelf and survive parcel delivery for e-commerce orders.
1. Choose board for weight and route
For lighter items such as hand showers and accessories, a litho-laminated E-flute or B-flute corrugated color box gives a flat surface for sharp photography and a solid feel. For heavy faucets, shower systems and multi-piece kits, a thicker flute or double wall adds crush and stacking strength.
Tell us the product weight, warehouse stacking height and shipping route. We match the board to those conditions and confirm it on a sample. We check samples in-house with burst-strength and board-compression testers before mass production.

2. Inserts: hold every part still
Inserts do most of the protection work. Common options:
Corrugated or paperboard inserts. Die-cut to the product shape, printable, and easy to recycle with the box.
Molded pulp trays. Good for curved bodies and heavy items.
Foam or EVA. For high-end finishes when the brand wants a premium unboxing, if your retailers accept it.
Send us the product, or a 3D file, so we can cut a sample insert around the real part. A tight fit stops scratches far better than extra padding.
3. Print and finish that match the product
Bathroom brands usually sell on finish and design, so the box has to show it. Our presses are a KBA Rapida 105-6+L (6-colour + coater), a KBA Rapida 142-5+L (5-colour full-sheet), a Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 (5-colour), and a Roland 900 4-colour with 1.6 m format. That lets us print photo-quality product images, keep Pantone brand colors consistent across a range, and add coatings in line.
Popular finishes for bathroom packaging:
Matte lamination with spot UV on the product image
Hot foil for the logo on premium lines
Soft-touch lamination for designer collections
A clean white or light-grey base that looks like a premium bathroom
4. Retail and e-commerce details
Barcode panel: place it where retailers expect it, and make sure the scanner can read it.
Spec panel: flow rate, finish, connection size and certification marks for your market, in the languages you need.
Window or not: a window shows the finish but weakens the panel and lets dust in. A printed photo is often the better choice.
Parcel-ready: if the box ships by courier, plan a shipper or confirm the color box can survive on its own.
5. Range consistency
Most bathroom brands sell a collection: faucet, shower, accessories. Plan one design system across box sizes so the shelf looks consistent. Printing all SKUs at one factory with the same press setup and color targets makes this much easier. For in-store promotion, a matching cardboard display stand can carry the same graphics.
If you also sell tools or general hardware, see our hardware and tools packaging page. Most of the same rules apply.

What to send for a quote
To get an accurate quote and a sample that fits the first time, send: product samples or 3D files, packed weight, the list of loose parts, target box style, finish preferences, quantity per SKU, number of SKUs, and your artwork status. If you already have a box from another program, send a photo and tell us what you want to improve, such as stronger corners, a better insert or a more premium look. We will suggest a structure, make a sample, and adjust it until the product fits and the box looks right.
