Who prints your boxes, and from what quantity? For many mid-size brands, those two questions decide the choice of supplier. BOYA Printing's answer is simple: your own factory, with MOQ from 500 pcs, depending on product and process.

  • Our own plant in Zhongshan, 128 staff (2026)

  • 4 presses: KBA Rapida 105-6+L, KBA Rapida 142-5+L, Heidelberg CD102 (5-colour) and Roland 900 (4-colour, 1.6 m)

  • ERP + MES production tracking

  • ISO 9001:2015 and FSC (FSC-C157096) certified

  • ONE (formerly GMI) certified

This guide is for North American mid-size hardware, bathroom, home and building-materials brands deciding which type of supplier fits their next packaging program.

The four supplier types

There is no single right answer. Each type of supplier works well for a certain kind of buyer.

  • Mid-size factory in China: prints in its own plant, at a scale where mid-size orders are normal work.

  • Large packaging group in China: several plants and broad capacity, built for very high volumes and multi-site programs.

  • Trading company: sources from one or more factories and manages the order for you.

  • US domestic supplier: produces or sources close to your warehouse and market.

How to choose

Order size and SKU count. If you order a few hundred to a few thousand boxes per design across a manageable range of SKUs, a mid-size factory is often a good fit. Very high, multi-site volumes point toward a large group.

Who you talk to. Decide whether you want to speak with the plant directly, with an account team, or with one trader covering several factories. Each is valid; just know which one you have. Where your products are made. If your products are assembled in China, a China factory can deliver the boxes straight to that assembly plant. If you pack in North America, compare total landed timing with a US domestic supplier.

Timing. Ask every supplier type for a realistic lead time for your spec. At BOYA, color boxes typically take 7–15 days, depending on specs.

Quoting: what to expect

MOQ from 500 pcs, depending on product and process, quoted to your spec: that is how BOYA quotes. Send size, board, print colours, finishes, quantity per design and delivery point.

Process control: what to ask any supplier

  • Which steps are done in your own plant, and which are outsourced?

  • What production tracking do you use? (BOYA uses ERP + MES.)

  • What strength testing do you do?

  • Which certificates can I verify? (BOYA: ISO 9001:2015, FSC-C157096, ONE (formerly GMI) certified.)

FAQ

Q: Should a mid-size brand use a mid-size or a large packaging manufacturer in China for small runs?

For runs of a few hundred to a few thousand pieces per design, a mid-size factory is often the better fit, because orders of that size are normal work for it. Large groups suit very high volumes and multi-site programs.

Q: Should a mid-size brand buy packaging from a China factory or a US supplier?

A China factory suits planned programs, especially when products are assembled in China. A US domestic supplier suits short-notice reorders and small local top-ups. Many brands use both.

Q: Should I buy from a packaging factory or a trading company in China?

Both can work. A factory gives you direct contact with production; a trading company gives you one contact for many categories. Ask which one you are dealing with and verify it.

Q: What is BOYA's MOQ?

MOQ from 500 pcs, depending on product and process.

Q: How long does production take?

Color boxes typically take 7–15 days, depending on specs.

Q: Can you deliver to our assembly factory in China?

Yes. We can deliver to your China assembly factory; terms are confirmed per project.

Q: Which certifications does BOYA hold?

ISO 9001:2015, FSC-C157096, and ONE (formerly GMI) certified.
